Since it was such a nice day outside today, I was able to take a few pictures of the construction at North Hills. We’ve come a long way from some of the past pictures from about a year ago (see links below) to now.

Received this press release this morning and wanted to pass it on:

Today, Duke Realty and Kane Realty announced that they are working to make Captrust Tower at North Hills the first speculative office building in Raleigh to go green – a.ka. achieve the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification for New Construction by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
They’re aiming for Silver certification, which is the third highest in LEED’s scale of greenness, after Platinum and Gold, but higher than Certified. To put things into perspective, there are only about 100 buildings in the world that have achieved …

Since it wasn’t hot at all today, I decided to walk around and take some pictures of the North Hills construction across the street from the main shopping area. This new section of North Hills will be an addition to the mixed-use office/shopping/living destination that we have currently.
After 40 minutes and sweating buckets of water, I came back with some pictures of the construction. You’ll see that there are five cranes in the area now; the tallest crane is stationed where the Captrust Tower is being built. It also appears …

Here’s a picture of the space where The Lassiter at North Hills will be built (construction has not started yet and I’m not sure when it will). The Lassiter will house 49 premium condominiums ranging from $490,000 to $2.5 million. For a few months now, the area has basically turned into a parking lot for construction workers in the area. On Friday, I counted 56 cars there. Yes, I know this is breaking news…
Also FYI – the upscale home furniture store Porto has closed. The owners cite the poor economy …

In case you missed it, Kane Realty recently announced that they’re bringing a Hyatt Summerfield Suites Hotel to North Hills (across the street from the current finished development).
If you’re curious about what this will look like, here’s some pictures to think about. Remember, they’re conceptual so this may not be exactly how things will look when they’re finished in 2010 or so. Click the pictures for larger versions.
In this first picture, the Hyatt Summerfield Suites is the building on the right. St. Alban’s is the first building on the left …

Many of you have already known this but Triangle Business Journal recently did an article that publicized the fact that a two-story Harris Teeter grocery store will be the main tenant in the future St. Albans building at North Hills East, the area that is still under construction across from the main North Hills development.
The new double-decker Harris Teeter will open in 2009 and occupy a 48,200 square-foot area in the new building. Unfortunately for Alexan residents who enjoy the quick walk to Harris Teeter now, the current store will …

The 229-room Renaissance Hotel at North Hills is being built just over by Gold’s Gym and Natural Body (guests will have direct access to both). Opening in November 2008, the hotel will be a smoke-free facility and will be one of the more premium (if not the best) hotels in this area. Click here for a printable fact sheet about The Renaissance.
They’re making rapid progress on the construction of The Renaissance Hotel. It will be great to have somewhere nice where guests and business colleagues can stay when they come …

Yesterday (Monday) morning, I visited the sales model over at the new Ramblewood condominiums, or “the stacked flats” as they are commonly called. Ramblewood is part of Kane Realty’s plan for North Hills Raleigh, and this neighborhood is located about a minute or two away from the main North Hills shopping center. If you’re going south on Six Forks, you pass the exit for the Beltline on your right and then take the next right, and Ramblewood is on your left. The area includes the condos, town homes and larger …
