This March, ArtSource North Hills has welcomed two new painters to their stable of artists: figurative & still life painter, Susanna Pantas, and urban landscape painter, Alberto Ortega.
Susanna Pantas’ detailed figurative paintings and still lifes offer intimate glimpses into the private moments of others, whether the glimpses are of a sleeping figure or a collection of someone’s beloved treasures. Her recent work includes a series of paintings, the Avian Series, in which human figures and birds are intermingled. The effect is a composition with a dreamlike quality, of …

On March 8, Lather Hair Salon in Raleigh marked its sixth month in business by providing professional hair styling for a fashion spread for Social The Magazine, featuring spring couture from Catch 22 boutique.
The photo session took place at The Spectacle, a fashion eyewear shop in North Hills shopping center. Heather Long of Catch 22 told Lather’s Jessica Williams and Lauren Lawson that she envisioned a natural style to complement the clothing, so the stylists created soft curls for the model.
This was the first time Lather stylists worked with Social’s …

**Update** Click here for pictures and videos from St. Patty’s Day at Fox & Hound!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! If you’re Irish (or have a 5th cousin/great great great grandfather/really awesome friend that’s Irish) say yeaaah! I’m part Irish, but I think it’s just a fun holiday and good excuse to get together with friends.
I haven’t had time to check up on all the festivities/specials at restaurants at North Hills but I did call Fox & Hound today. Here’s what’s going on there tonight:
All pints are $2.50
Green bikini contest starting after …

I wanted to share some cool news I just received. To take advantage of the North Hills nightlife and dining scene on Friday nights, select stores are staying open later to accommodate extra shoppers. You can actually shop while you wait for a table at certain restaurants, which will call/text you when your table is ready. Be sure to ask if the restaurant you visit does this; I wouldn’t want you to go shopping and then find out your table has been taken by someone else!
Some stores that are staying …

Today I went to Chic-Fil-A at North Hills to grab some nuggets and fries for lunch. It was an awesome day outside and it’s only going to get better this weekend!
I was thinking about the restaurants I usually go to during the day and how they’re not quite what you think of as fancy sit-down restaurants, but they’re definitely a step above fast food. This would include places like Chic-Fil-A, Moe’s, Five Guys, McAllister’s, and Q Shack.
These are places where you can get a quality meal in less than 15 …

I thought this was a nicely done video from Luxe Apothecary and Goodtree & Company.
In two minutes, Fiquet of Luxe Apothecary walks you through the process of creating the illusion of a fuller, more shapely eyebrow. I’m a guy so I know nothing about make-up or how this stuff works. But even I could understand these simple steps here.

Lately there has been some discussion about whether or not Raleigh should employ inclusionary zoning to increase the city’s supply of affordable housing. According to IndyWeek:
A new housing analysis published by the Wake County Human Services Department shows roughly 46,000 Raleigh households (35 percent) are paying too much for their housing, using the generally accepted federal standard that housing should cost no more than 30 percent of family income. The main reason: There’s not enough housing available at lower prices.
It’s interesting to note that when Kane Realty applied for rezoning …
