North Hills $1 Billion Expansion Featured on NBC 17

Despite the tough economy, North Hills is poised for huge growth. Check out the video below for a segment from NBC-17, which dicusses the $1 billion expansion of North Hills across Six Forks Road. As we’ve mentioned before, the area will be a mixed-use development featuring retail (250,000 square feet), offices and residential living. We’re also excited about the green space they’ll have for people to enjoy relaxing and more live music and entertainment.

In the video Raleigh’s planning director, Mitchell Silver, says, “As we look to the future, we want to have more places like North Hills throughout the city because it reduces the need for people to drive.”

That is probably true for people who live there, but I’m not sure if that is true overall–with all the great things happening in the area, more and more people are driving here. Until the city gets a bus or metro to/from downtown Raleigh and other places, I’m not sure this will change.

Video From the Embers Second Performance Last Week

Last week, the Embers graced the crowd with their second performance of this year’s Midtown Music Series.

The show rocked and tons of people showed up to watch and chill at the Commons at North Hills. Each event keeps getting bigger. You can see some video (before things got crowded and after) below. Stay tuned for information about tomorrow’s musical guest.

Pictures from Thursday – Renaissance Hotel and Liquid Pleasure

I just got back from an awesome weekend at the beach so that’s why I’m only just now writing about last Thursday. The Midtown Music Series was once again packed on Thursday as Liquid Pleasure performed and the weather was outstanding. Check out the video below of me walking over to the music (as you can tell, I’m pretty excited about my new sunglasses I got from The Spectacle).

Prior to the music, I met up with Wayne Sutton and we walked over to the Renaissance Hotel. We’re looking for a location for a few upcoming events and I think the Renaissance would be a great location for them. Wayne and I walked around the lobby and 2nd level and looked at some meeting rooms. If you haven’t been to the Renaissance yet, I highly recommend it–very nice bar and meeting areas.

Liquid Pleasure rocked the Commons with some old school songs and their versions of newer songs. This week, Black and Blue will be the featured musical guest so come out to North Hills Raleigh on Thursday and check them out–unfortunately I’m going to miss the music this week, because I’ll be out of town. See below for some of the pictures I took last Thursday prior to and during the music.

The Embers performed last week at the first Midtown Music Series event of the year. The weather was awesome and the Commons at North Hills was packed! See below for some videos and pictures from the event. You can also see some pictures from WRAL.com here.

Today I was at North Hills for lunch with my buddy Noah from Look to the Right Internet Marketing. We noticed that Kerry Catherine Jewelry was having a sale. I’m not sure how long this sale will last (was in a hurry and hungry for lunch at Five Guys so I didn’t ask), so head over there and check it out if you’re planning on buying some jewelry anytime soon.

North Hills Christmas Tree Lighting Video and Pictures

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. From what I’ve heard the Christmas Tree Lighting at North Hills on Nov. 22 was a great event. I stopped by before everything got started but I couldn’t stay for the entire thing. Based on what I saw, it looked like Kane Realty really went all out for this event with:

carolers
horse and carriage rides
rickshaw rides
trolley rides
real snow from snow blowers on top of a few buildings

Here are a few pictures I took before the main tree was lit. The sky happened to look really nice in a few of these pictures. Click the thumbnails for larger versions.

I also found a great video on YouTube that shows everything that went on.
