Here’s a little bit more about Smith’s Nursery, in their own words.

Smith’s Nursery is a family owned wholesale nursery and produce farm that has been operating in Johnston County, North Carolina for over 20 years. During the spring and early summer we have an exciting strawberry, blueberry and blackberry season. You can pick your own berries on the farm or purchase Smith’s Nursery pre-picked berries on-site or from a local market. Strawberry season in North Carolina begins in early April and can run through the first of June. As strawberry season ends, blueberry and blackberry season begins.

During the season you can find Smith’s Nursery berries at several local farmer’s markets including the State Farmer’s Market in Raleigh, Western Wake Market, Clayton Farmer’s Market, and of course, the Midtown Farmers’ Market. At the Midtown Farmers’ Market you will find our fresh, local strawberries, homemade jams and jellies, organic herbs, and flowers for your garden. Since opening day, Smith’s Nursery has been a proud member of the North Hills Farmer’s Market. We enjoy our Saturdays in the commons selling berries, talking with our regular customers, and listening to the wonderful music and entertainment provided by North Hills.

In the fall Smith’s Nursery offers pumpkin picking, goat walks, hayrides, and fishing at the farm. We bring pumpkins, mums, jams and butters to the Midtown Market during pumpkin season. The berry and pumpkin seasons provide a great opportunity for an educational farm field trip for preschool and elementary school students, special needs individuals, and church groups. We welcome new visitors to our farm year round to pick-your-own produce, feed the farm animals, purchase plants or fish in the ponds. We are excited for another successful berry season and hope to see you at the market.
