ArtSource North Hills Introduces Two New Painters
This March, ArtSource North Hills has welcomed two new painters to their stable of artists: figurative & still life painter, Susanna Pantas, and urban landscape painter, Alberto Ortega.
Susanna Pantas’ detailed figurative paintings and still lifes offer intimate glimpses into the private moments of others, whether the glimpses are of a sleeping figure or a collection of someone’s beloved treasures. Her recent work includes a series of paintings, the Avian Series, in which human figures and birds are intermingled. The effect is a composition with a dreamlike quality, of a moment capturing the juxtaposition between humanity and nature. Susanna graduated cum laude from UNC Wilmington with a BA in Studio Art, where she was awarded the Outstanding Art Student Award & Grant, chosen by the University faculty and given by the Wilmington Arts Council.
Alberto Ortega, an artist who originally hails from Seville, Spain, has spent the past five years concentrating on creating paintings that center around the urban places that he has visited. The paintings in his new collection at ArtSource feature scenes from locations around North Carolina, including several of Raleigh and the outer banks. Ortega says that he “hopes to provide an opportunity for the viewer to experience a feeling of connectedness with ordinary urban life.”
