Bus from North Hills to Downtown Raleigh?

February 18 2009 6 Comments

The recent launch of new bus services in Raleigh has got me thinking about North Hills.

The free R-line, which features service features hybrid electric buses that run in a loop every 10-15 minutes downtown, officially launched last friday, February 13.

Wolfprowl, NCSU’s express entertainment bus, begins evening service to the Glenwood South area (with connections to CAT’s downtown circulator), Thursday, February 19 at 9pm. Wolfprowl operates Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 9pm-3am and runs in a continuous loop, with service to each stop approximately every 30 minutes.

In my opinion, it would be great if the city had some buses that ran from North Hills to downtown in the future, once construction is complete. I know many North Hills residents may be content hanging out here, but I bet there are some who would take advantage of this service. What do you think?

I live off Hardimont Road, very near the new section of North Hills. I’d definitely take the bus downtown, especially in the evenings when wine flows with dinner ;-)

This would be awesome, we definately need this in raleigh! it would help create an inner city less dependent on cars

I predict a lot of people will voice support, but few will leave their Bimmers and Lexii at home in order to share public transportation with the plebs.

It would be great it that could happen

Better idea, though long term in nature, is to connect via rail lines. People are actually excited about using rail rather than buses.

I’ve thought the same thing many times, and would love a bus downtown, but I usually have the same outlook as Magnus. NCSU students are a lot more likely to actually ride a bus somewhere than the typical North Hills resident.
