Huge Game Tonight in Raleigh – Ravenscroft vs. Word of God

February 4 2009 Leave a Comment

When Word of God plays at Ravenscroft tonight at 7pm, it will be the biggest high school basketball game of the year in the Triangle. Word of God is led by 6′4″ senior guard John Wall, who is ranked by Rivals.com as the #1 player in the country. Wall is basically a human highlight–one of the fastest guys with the ball I’ve ever seen and has some insane hops. Other talented players on Word of God’s team include 6′7″ forward CJ Leslie (class of 2010, committed to NC State), 6′3″ guard Dezmine Wells (class of 2011) and 6′2″ guard Bishop Daniels (class of 2011), who is one of the best guards in his class.

Ravenscroft is led by Duke recruit Ryan Kelly, a 6′10″ senior forward who plays a lot like Dirk Nowitzki. 6′11″ senior Matt Wilson, who will play for UNC-Wilmington next year, is also a force for the Ravens.

The first time these teams met in early January, Ravenscroft got the victory 68-59, as Word of God struggled to solve Ravenscroft’s zone defense. Here’s the recap from this first game. Tonight should be another great battle between these teams and their very talented players.

I’ll definitely be going to the game tonight (and getting there very early). Are any of you going?
