New Midtown Section in the News & Observer

August 13 2008 Leave a Comment

There will be a new Midtown section in the News & Observer for those of you who live in this area. According to the article announcing this section, the decision to start this new section was based on the success of the North Raleigh section.

It’s good to see the N & O embracing hyper-local news and stories like you’ll find here on North Hills Buzz. It is my belief that hyper-local news will continue to grow in importance, as technology such as streaming video, digital cameras, blogging, etc, becomes more widely accepted and more people contribute to the news as citizen journalists.

From a readership perspective, mainstream media are beginning to realize that local/community news is important to people and that in order to grow, they have to embrace it. I think this new section in the N & O will be great for the North Hills/Midtown community.

On a completely unrelated note, check out the pictures so far from the Buzz A Lotus Photo Contest. The red sports car will be at North Hills for the Emerging Artists music series on Friday from 6:30-8:30pm. Come check out the music, take a picture of yourself and the car with our logo and you’ll be entered to win a $100 North Hills gift certificate.
