McAlister’s Deli
McAlister’s Deli at North Hills offers fresh meals, quick service and a friendly, relaxing atmosphere. They have great sandwiches, soups and salads but are perhaps best known for their giant spuds. The best one has to be the Spud Max, which is loaded with ham, turkey, bacon, cheddar and swiss cheeses, green onions and black olives–the thing weighs about 2 pounds! To wash it all down, try a giant glass of McAlister’s Famous Sweet Tea.
After you order McAlister’s gives you a number so you can sit down. And you get your drink first, so you can go ahead and start chugging that ice tea as you wait for your order to be brought to you. Little touches like these are what make McAlister’s special.
McAlisters is home of “The Big Nasty” which is a favorite pick for some of my friends: roast beef served open-faced on a 12″ wheat hoagie drowning in their special gravy topped with grated cheddar and swiss cheese and green onions. Its a tad salty though.
If you’re feeling healthful you can grab a wrap: the club wrap, grilled chicken caesar wrap or my favorite, the turkey melt wrap.
