Taylor Barr Talks About Eating Lunch at Cinelli’s Pizza

June 13 2008 2 Comments

Today my buddy Taylor Barr met me for lunch at Cinelli’s Pizza at North Hills. I am a huge fan of the restaurant, but Taylor had never eaten there before. We sat outside and both ordered the lunch special (2 pieces of pizza and a drink). You can choose from a few different styles of pizza at Cinelli’s but I always go with “Grandma’s Pizza.”

Here’s how Cinelli’s describes Grandma’s Pizza on their website:

Thin crust, baked in a pan, litely topped with mozzarella cheese & Italian plum tomatoes. Sprinkled with Olive Oil, fresh garlic, basil and oregano. An Olde World Recipe that dates back to our Grandma and her Grandma, brought to NY by our mother and now brought here to NC by the Cinelli brothers.

The extra herbs and fresh ingredients give this pizza a great flavor. I highly recommend it.

Check out the video below to hear what Taylor thought about Cinelli’s and Grandma’s Pizza.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

My wife and I went to Cinelli’s at North Hills last evening. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement.

The restaurant was only half full on a Saturday evening at 7:00pm, which should have been a warning to us. Even though they were not busy, the service was very slow, and very impersonal. We heard the wait staff loudly discussing a meal gone wrong while they bussed a table across from us. They said some very critical things about a person involved in the incident. I’m not sure whether they were talking about a colleague or a customer, but it was unprofessional either way.

I watched other patrons’ plates sit on the serving counter for several minutes before being taken to their booth, all of ten feet away. And again, the place was NOT busy.

The food was OK, but overpriced. I had Penne Rustico, but it suffered in comparison to other local Italian restaurants. For example, I would say the Spinach Ravioli in Pink Sauce from Lubrano’s is twice as good, and their dish is priced at $5 less.

    Avoid Cinelli’s.
