Iron Chef Competition Recap

On Saturday, people came out to the Farmers’ Market here at the Commons to watch the North Hills Iron Chef Competition, which challenged chefs from Bonefish Grill and Mura to see who could create the best dishes made from ingredients from the Farmers’ Market. Bonefish Grill came away with the win, and the event raised over $800 for the Interfaith Food Shuttle. The 100 tasting tickets sold out and people seemed to really enjoy watching the chefs prepare their dishes, which were judged on taste, presentation, variety and creativity.

The audience was impressed with how the chefs were able to work out of their elements, and how they used tomatoes (the secret ingredient) in different ways (in polenta, gaspacho, etc). Bonefish Grill’s chicken cacciatore was one of the most popular dishes, and Chef Mario (one of the judges) called it “comfort food at its best.” The audience also showed that they were pretty knowledgeable about food, asking interesting questions about how to prepare things a certain way or what a certain ingredient was used for.

Mura is Ready for Iron Chef Competition

30threads.com, which highlights stories from the Triangle area, recently saw our post about the North Hills Iron Chef Competition and decided to get more information. Wayne Sutton from 30threads had a chance to chat with a chef from Mura (John Anderson) and its GM (James Park) about the competition. The event, which benefits the Interfaith Food Shuttle, starts tomorrow morning at 9:00am over by the Commons/Farmers’ Market here.

North Hills Iron Chef Competition

This Saturday from 9:00am – 12:00pm chefs from Mura and Bonefish Grill will participate in the North Hills Iron Chef Competition to raise money for the Interfaith Food Shuttle. The chefs will use ingredients from the North Hills Farmers’ Market to prepare 3 dishes to be judged by a panel made up of food critics and local media.

Feel free to come out and watch this competition. $5 will get you a tasting ticket that you can use to sample some of the delicious food that will be made, and ticket proceeds will benefit the Interfaith Food Shuttle. There will only be 100 tasting tickets available for the public, so show up early, because it’s first-come, first-serve.
