Here’s a picture of the space where The Lassiter at North Hills will be built (construction has not started yet and I’m not sure when it will). The Lassiter will house 49 premium condominiums ranging from $490,000 to $2.5 million. For a few months now, the area has basically turned into a parking lot for construction workers in the area. On Friday, I counted 56 cars there. Yes, I know this is breaking news…
Also FYI - the upscale home furniture store Porto has closed. The owners cite the poor economy as a major factor in deciding to close the stores (there was one at North Hills and one at Eastgate in Chapel Hill).
How has the economy affected your financial decisions?

WRAL recently published an article on their website that talks about how Raleigh’s growth has been hurt by the mortgage and credit crisis. While Raleigh hasn’t been hit nearly as hard as other places, lenders are still being less willing to give money to projects, even ones they had previously committed to.
The article mentions that there is a construction delay for the Lafayette Hotel in downtown Raleigh as well as “for a major condo project at North Hill.”
I’m guessing they mean The Lassiter…
Does anyone know for certain?
If it is The Lassiter are there any estimates about when the project will be finished now?
Link to WRAL article is here.

The Lassiter at North Hills will be a collection of 49 condominiums ranging from $490k to over $2.5 million (according to their website). North Hills Buzz is planning on devoting some time/research into discovering why they haven’t started building The Lassiter yet and when they plan on starting. We have a few theories and facts, but before we dive in, does anyone have any knowledge of this subject? Feel free to post a comment here or use the contact form if you don’t want your comment to be seen. Also, if you’re with Kane Realty and have something to add we’d love to hear it.
